FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many people will be attending the Upasana Enlightenment Course?
We believe in keeping the groups at a size which allows our Facilitators to give you attention when you may need it. For this reason, we prefer a group between 20 and 40, although we would accommodate 1 or 2 more if that was necessary.
What do I have to bring to India?
We will provide all attendees with a suggested packing list of essentials. It depends on the location and time of the year. Other things you may wish to bring may be determined by your baggage allowance.
Please refer to the Program Outline page for inclusions and exclusions to see what is covered in the cost of Upasana Enlightenment.
Do I need experience in anything like yoga or meditation? For instance, I cannot sit cross legged, so how can I meditate?
You will receive instruction in various meditation poses to find what is suitable for you. Chairs, cushions and other props are provided for those unable to sit comfortably on the floor due to age or a physical problem.
What do I need to know?
You really need to know that you want to make changes to your life or improve your life. If you can answer yes to this, then the course is for you!

What happens once I finish the course?
Once you have completed this course, one major secret of success is continuity of practice.
There are higher levels of this course offered to successful attendees, as well as other associated courses that would be of benefit.
Can I bring a group of people?
By all means! We even offer a group discount so if you want to make use of this contact us and we can let you know what we will do for your group.
How do I become a Facilitator?
We select our Facilitators very carefully. All of them must have completed the Upasana Enlightenment Course as a minimum. All Facilitators must have traveled in India. The group dynamics of the Facilitators is also very important as the group must work together very well.
If you believe you would make a wonderful Facilitator, please feel free to contact us.
Are there higher levels of Upasana Enlightenment?
As well as advanced levels of Upasana Enlightenment, we offer other courses that relate to this one where we are able to go into greater detail than time permits during the Upasana Enlightenment Course.
We are happy to provide details if you wish to contact us about these.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
I’m on a special diet. Can I bring my own food?
We’re sorry, but students are required to choose from the food we provide, rather than bring their own food. Most people find there is a fantastic selection and they enjoy the vegetarian diet.
If your Health Care Provider has prescribed a special diet, please let us know and we will see whether we can accommodate you. If the diet is too specialised or would interfere with the activities we provide, we might have to ask you to wait until you are able to join us.
What if I have special needs?
Please contact us so we can discuss this further as there is no answer to fit all circumstances.
Can pregnant women attend courses? If so, are there any special arrangements or instructions for them?
Pregnant women are certainly welcome.
We do ask that they are confident that their pregnancy is stable before applying.
Please contact us so we can ascertain your suitability given the activities we will be providing.
Can I pay for the course in instalments?
Certainly. Please go to the shop page where you will see the options available.
All payments must be finalised before the event and we will let you know when final payment is due should you take up this option.
What happens if I get sick?
All of our venues have designated doctors. Medical help is readily available 24 hours a day.
Please make sure you have purchased a comprehensive travel insurance to cover this possibility.
What if there is an emergency and I have to go home early?
You would have to go. We will help all we can with arrangements but all expenses would have to be recovered from your comprehensive travel insurance policy. Please make sure the policy you take out covers any such possibility. We are unable to provide any refunds once the course has commenced.
Why is the course 14 days long?
The 14-day course provides an intense, essential foundation to the techniques. To develop in the practice is a lifetime job built upon the foundation you receive at the Upasana Enlightenment Course. There are so many topics to cover, 14-days is a very quick amount of time to cover what we do. Please note that we have also included some side-trips so that the students are not too overwhelmed and have time to relax and refresh the mind. These side-trips are also very educational and interesting as all our events are held in fascinating places.
How many hours a day will I be meditating?
Please refer to the Upasana Enlightenment Program Outline for more details about this.
What language is used in the course?
At this stage all teachings will be given in English only.
What if I am unsure if I am doing the meditation properly?
Meditation is not difficult. As long as you are truly interested and make a genuine effort, you will meditate. Provided you follow the instructions given, you will meditate correctly. It does not matter whether you are a novice or an accomplished student of meditation, all attendees will be able to follow these meditations with practice. Your efforts will be supported by the Facilitators as well as your fellow students.
Is there anyone who would not be suitable to participate in the course?
Those who are too physically frail or suffering severe emotional or psychiatric problems are unlikely to achieve optimum benefit from the course. If you have any doubt, contact us and we can make an assessment. In rare cases, applicants are advised to see their doctor to get approval.
Do I have to be a religious person to practise Upasana Enlightenement?
Upasana Enlightenment has benefited religious people as well as those who practice no religion. It does not matter. If there is any historical, religious, or cultural context related to a particular technique, then it will be explained but it is not necessary to be of any faith for these techniques to work for you. Being open-minded, receptive to new ideas, and diligent in your practice is all we can ask.
Why do I have to stay for all fourteen days?
Yes. The Upasana Enlightenment Course is very carefully sequenced as there is a tremendous amount of information supplied, and many practice sessions included to make sure students are confident and comfortable will all activities. We are unable to cater for late-comers.
Is it dangerous to leave the course early?
No, but leaving before all of the information and activities are provided is really shortchanging yourself. If you give yourself a chance to attend the full program and practice the techniques, you will be able to apply everything in your daily life. To want to go home early would waste all the time you have invested.
